On June 4th, 1942. . .
October 16, 2019On the afternoon of June 4th three Japanese Aircraft carriers were heavily damaged. Planes from the IJN Hiryu were launching to attack U.S. Aircraft Carriers. The USS Yorktown was struck and damaged by torpedoes from Nakajima B5N torpedo bombers. The Hiryu, which launched the IJN aircraft, was then attacked and set ablaze by SBD Dauntless Dive Bombers.
This is just a snap shot of this turning-point battle in the pacific. You can learn about this conflict, and the aircraft that were there, at our Museum. Stand in front of the most-intact Nakajima B5N2 “Kate” on public display anywhere in the world. Look into the cockpit of an SBD Dauntless. See artwork and scale models that recreate the Hiryu and other ships involved on that fateful day in exacting detail.
